OUR PHILOSOPHY, OUR PATH, MU DO
Internationally certified Black Belts and Junior Black Belts comprise 17% of the students. Class sizes are only up to 15 students, attention is paid to finer details, and the learning style of each indvidual student is taken into account when conveying the material.
We believe that every student has unique talents waiting to be unearthed and that each can reach and exceed their goals through pushing beyond perceived self limitations. Being outdoors, community service, and travel are encouraged which broaden the practitioner's field of reference and fosters a more civil and caring community, one student at the time.
The traditional martial arts were, after all, developed out of the need for self protection; therefore, the combative aspects are learned. In conjunction, the tenets of Taekwon-Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, & Indomitable Spirit are woven into daily life as one trains, lives, and grows as a human being.
In essense, the path we follow can be summed up in the Korean term, Mu Do, or martial arts way.

Head Instructor

Elizabeth Roshdy, IV Dan, began the study of Korean martial arts and Ju Jitsu in tandem from the age of 12 in 1973 into high school. Although born in N.C., she spent her childhood in the Washington, D.C. area where her mother enrolled her for leg strengthening. While in college in Raleigh, she studied what at that time had emerged as a distinct martial art, Taekwon-Do. She hosts or goes directly to the pioneers for hands-on training in the theory of power, fighting, pressure point application, and cross-trains with other advanced practitioners to deepen technical and historical understanding. Like her family who have been in N.C. for generations, she has deep roots here and intends to keep giving back to a community that provides so much.
